The National Coalition of Black led Organisations' (NCbLO) launched conference on 23rd March 2005 provided a unique opportunity for black-led professional associations to examine the implications of the government's strategy on race equality, and to inform Government and their respective departments on the way forward from a minority ethnic perspective. It focused on achieving race equality within all equality strands and key occupations. The conference considered departmental obligations under the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000, implementation of mandatory Race Equality Schemes and SMART recommendations through the development of an effective partnership.

The NCbLO People's Conference fulfils our third pledge to facilitate a closer link between BME communities and the governmental departments servicing them .

In 2007, NCbLO's mission to Respect, Celebrate and Promote the contribution of the Black communities to a successful and cohesive Britain is indeed timely.
